Bible Studies

Pastor's Bible Study ~ will be on Wednesday nights beginning the middle of September

Men's Community Bible Study is taking sign ups for their Fall Bible study, Tuesday evenings at the Church on the Mountain, formerly the Baptist Church

Women's Community Bible study is taking sign ups for their Fall session. They will be studying the book of Revelation. Classes begin September 8 and meet here at the Mt Calvary at 9:45AM

Ministries for Children

Children's Church meets in the Fireside Room at the end of the hallway with the restrooms during the 11AM worship service, it is for children 2-7 yrs of age.

Vacation Bible School

It's that time of the year again... the lazy days of summer are near and what a better time to grow with God. Vacation Bible School starts next Monday. It is not too late to sign up any kids you know. VBS starts at 9:00AM and ends at 12:00PM. All are welcome to this free program.

A New sign will be at Mt Calvary soon. The old trusty sign after 50 years of use was beginning to show signs of the years. With some of our loan money a new sign has been ordered. Hope everyone likes it.

Notice what Paul says about his life, mission and hope.Acts 26:9 "I too was convinced that I ought to do all that was possible to oppose the name of Jesus of Nazareth. 10And that is just what I did in Jerusalem. On the authority of the chief priests I put many of the saints in prison, and when they were put to death, I cast my vote against them. 11Many a time I went from one synagogue to another to have them punished, and I tried to force them to blaspheme. In my obsession against them, I even went to foreign cities to persecute them. 12"On one of these journeys I was going to Damascus with the authority and commission of the chief priests. 13About noon, O king, as I was on the road, I saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, blazing around me and my companions. 14We all fell to the ground, and I heard a voice saying to me in Aramaic,[a] 'Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.' 15"Then I asked, 'Who are you, Lord?' " 'I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,' the Lord replied. 16'Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen of me and what I will show you. 17I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. May God give us courage to share our story of faith and joy in Jesus with others.

Pinewood Derby May 30th

You can pick up a car at church to build. Invite non-churched friends to the event and maybe give them a car. Youth group garage sale and car wash on May 16th. Come and shop or leave things of value to sell. No clothes or junk please.

Greetings ~

This Sunday starts our 50 days Ablaze. We want the Mt. to see that our church is burning bright with the love of Jesus and our fellow man. During the next 50 days we have a special offering for world missions, be visited by a missionary working in Africa,
have a Pinewood derby on May 30th, attend a mission fair about local mission work in our church and community, and on May 31 and close it all up with a Invite a Friend to church Sunday.

We have also invited our Preschool kids to sing at the 9:30 AM service. 50 Days Ablaze! is intended to be a journey for members of the congregation to grow spiritually in their awareness and understanding of Christ’s Great Commission. It coincides with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod’s Ablaze! initiative to reach 100 million people by the 500th Anniversary of the Protestant Reformation in 2017.

You can learn more about the Ablaze initiative on the LCMS website at www.lcms.org.Christ’s Great Commission:“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20). The focus of the 50 Days Ablaze Missions Outreach Journey is spiritual growth and increased missions and outreach. The emphasis is on Christ’s grace and redeeming love for us.

The mission response is seven-fold:

We will have our three normal service times but there will be no Sunday School. We will offer nursery school for the very young in the new Preschool Building. There will be a Easter Egg Hunts after the 9:30 and 11:00AM Services. The Elders will be serving Breakfast again after the 8:00AM and 9:30AM worship services and the church choir will be singing.
